Band at First Assembly is taught in daily scheduled classes as a regular part of the school day. Band classes are offered to fifth graders in beginning band, sixth grade band, seventh and eighth grade middle school band and High School Band. Students have the opportunity to perform in concerts at least twice a year. The high school band also performs at open house and other events. High School Band includes participation in Concert Band, Jazz Band and Pep Band. Band students also have opportunities to participate in All-County, All-District and All-State bands. Opportunities for travel with the band are also a part of the band experience.
The classes are designed to help students develop their creative thought processes, critical thinking skills, and problem solving skills through the exploration and understanding of instrumental music. Students are taught to develop positive attitudes and good behavior as they seek God’s will in developing their own creativity and musical talent.
