Students cover stories from the Bible, including: Moses, the Tabernacle, Joshua, Ruth and Jonah. The life of Jesus Christ is also taught as Christian life principles and salvation are emphasized. Students learn Bible hymns and a new Bible memory verse each month. Chapel services are held weekly.
HEALTH
In the Health course, students gain an understanding of the importance of good posture, proper nutrition, exercise, rest, cleanliness, courtesy and safety.
HISTORY
In the History course, students are taught geographic skills, map-reading, American patriotic songs, holidays and
LANGUAGE
Students build upon previous knowledge of sentence structure, punctuation and capitalization. They also learn language mechanics, dictionary skills, word usage rules, grammar and creative writing.
MATH
Students will learn number recognition, counting and writing numbers through 10,000 and beyond. Also taught are ordinal numbers, place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, story problems, rounding and estimation. Students will master concepts with fractions, time measures, temperature, graphs, simple geometry and Roman numerals.
PHONICS
The Phonics course builds upon previous knowledge of vowels, consonants, blends, one and two-vowel words and consonant blends. Recognition and use of all phonics special sounds are taught and applied to daily coursework.
In the
SCIENCE
Students learn to enjoy God’s world as they study His plan for creation. Scientific concepts about the human body, animals, plants, matter and the solar system are also taught.
SPELLING
A new set of spelling words are introduced to the students each week for study and testing. Words are based upon phonetic sounds as well as sight words and vocabulary words.
WRITING
Students review manuscript letter formation and are taught cursive writing. Neatness and spacing are emphasized.
