Physical Education

6th-8th
The Physical Education course helps the student to develop personal fitness and improve interpersonal skills for everyday living.  Students will have the opportunity to increase endurance, flexibility, strength, speed and agility.  Through participation in team and individual sports, students will gain an awareness of the importance of teamwork and working toward their best performance.  Students will be given the opportunity to build skills that will allow them to succeed in athletics and in everyday life.

 

HEALTH / PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Prerequisite: None
Eligibility: 9

The Health component is the study of the care and development of the human body.  Students study the benefits of being fit and maintaining a good self-image.  Students also learn and implement strategies for healthy and Godly living.  In the Physical Education component, students apply basic skills and techniques of team, individual and dual sports.  Skills taught are beginning and intermediate softball/baseball, soccer, basketball and volleyball.  Students will learn and apply basic cardiovascular conditioning principles through participation in a structured walking program.  All sports address Christian perspectives through competition.

 

WEIGHT TRAINING
Prerequisite: Health / Physical Education
Eligibility: 10, 11, 12

The Advanced Physical Education course is designed to give students the opportunity to learn weight training concepts and techniques used for obtaining optimal physical fitness.  Students benefit from comprehensive weight training and cardio-respiratory endurance activities. Students will learn the basic fundamentals of weight training, strength training, aerobic training and overall fitness training.  CPR and First Aid will also be incorporated in the school year.  Community service will also be preformed on game days for athletic events that are held on campus.
